HYPER JAPAN hits London on October 1st!
BE PART OF THE POP PARTY! This October, Cross Media will be hosting a new and exciting Japanese culture event in the heart of London, called HYPER JAPAN. This three day event is packed with events and looks to be a fun weekend for everyone, from the average sushi lover to the full out anime otaku!
Cross Media, known for the EAT-JAPAN magazine and the Tokyo Day event, are working with the team behind the Grand International Cosplay Ball to create an event that will bring Japan’s newest and freshest trends to the UK.
KERA Model Search & Fashion Show
Trend-setting Japanese street fashion magazine KERA [Japanese] will be exhibiting at HYPER JAPAN, and bringing a selection of popular punk, Lolita and alternative fashion brands with them. KERA will also host Harajuku-style fashion shows and style tutorials on the main stage, and HYPER JAPAN is looking for models to take part! Be Transformed
There will be Japanese hair, nail art and make-up artists in the beauty and fashion corner, where you can attend hair and make-up seminars, or bling your mobile phone with Japanese Decora style sparkles! Discover how to recreate sensational Japanese street-fashion looks step by step!
Indulge in Delicious Japanese Food
A wide range of restaurants and food stores will be serving authentic and delicious dishes at the EAT-JAPAN Food Court. You can sample everything from simple festival food to high class sushi, bento boxes and onigiri to okonomiyaki and pastries, and taiyaki to takoyaki! You can even learn how to make your own Japanese dishes at home, with cooking tutorials every day on the main stage, or be introduced to the world of Sake and Shochu on the Friday of HYPER JAPAN!
Evangelion Store
The Evangelion Store will be exhibiting for the first time in the UK, with a selection of exclusive and hard-to-find items available for purchase. Products will include the latest collection of Evangelion figures and a range of Asuka Langley stationery, sold exclusively at HYPER JAPAN!
There will also be exclusive goods from Japan available, ranging from anime and manga accessories and toys to J-Pop CDs and fashion magazines- many of which you can’t find anywhere else in the UK!
Manga Tutorials by Umisen Yamasen
The well-known, London-based manga artist group Umisen Yamasen will be hosting on-stage drawing tutorials. This 5-part team have been working together since early 2006 and have produced several original design postcards, comic books and illustrations. Brush up your artwork skills and be inspired by these talented artists!
Win a trip to Japan with HYPER JAPAN’s Cosplay Competition!
Pairs of cosplayers can compete to win two flights to Tokyo (courtesy of Finnair) and five night’s stay in a luxury 4-star hotel (courtesy of Park Hotel Tokyo)! The competition is open to cosplayers aged 16 and over and takes place on the HYPER JAPAN main stage on Saturday, 2nd of October. Online registration will open on the 1st of September and will close on the 24th of September 2010. This is an exciting once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone who has ever wanted to visit the exciting and vibrant capital of Japan!
In addition to the HYPER JAPAN UK Cosplay Award, there will also be a COSParade competition held on the HYPER JAPAN main stage on Saturday and Sunday, and three prizes will be awarded each day!
There will also be a Cosplay Talent Show that will take place on Sunday, and is in conjunction with the Grand International Cosplay Ball. Cosplayers will compete in an “X-Factor” style competition to win an all-expenses paid trip to London and the chance to perform at the Grand Cosplay Ball, held this year on November 28th! This competition is open to individuals and groups aged 18 and over, and once again you must register between the 1st and 24th of September!

Early bird day-tickets for HYPER JAPAN are available for £4 online from Ticket Web until July 31st, so act fast! Tickets are also available from JP Books at Mitsukoshi Department store in Piccadilly Circus, London. You can buy tickets on the door at the event; however ticket numbers are limited, so buy in advance to avoid missing out!
