SDCC: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Dust off your arcade stick, fight fans because a ton of announcements were released at SDCC for 2011′s Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. 6 new characters, 6 new trailers and a whole ton of screenshots to top it off!

In sports it’s called the ‘talent pool’ and no video game can draw from a deeper pool than that of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. That’s what makes roster announcements so exciting, we all have our hopeful entrants but with so many possible characters to choose from and nobody quite knows who’s going to make the cut. The last instalment of the series, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, had a whopping 56 playable characters. We’re nowhere near that number yet but we now have another 6 names to add to the growing roster of combatants.  On team Marvel we have the mighty Thor, Doctor Doom and Super-Skrull. Team Capcom get the obvious inclusion of Street Fighter’s Chun-Li, Devil May Cry’s femme fatale Trish and my personal favourite, from one of the best games in a long time, Okami’s Amaterasu! Add them to the list of the already released names of Captain America, Deadpool, Hulk, Iron-Man, Wolverine, Chris Redfield, Dante, Felicia, Morrigan and Ryu and we’re shaping up nicely. Still no sign of my boy Balrog so it looks like I may have to take on a new Shotokan killer. Is Amaterasu up to the job?
